What's Happening
10 YEARS OF THE AM REVOLUTION IN 10 DAYS
Starting Monday, Nov 10, Radio 1190 will begin our "10 Years in 10 Days" special. For two weeks, Monday through Friday in the daytime, you'll be hearing a mix of current music along with sets from the ten years of our existance. Monday we drop back to 1998, then go from there. All the great bands that came and went, the albums that changed the sound of college radio, the songs corporate radio missed completely! It's been a great ten years, and this is our way of thanking the fabulous Radio 1190 community!

10th Anniversary Browsing
Celebrate Radio 1190's 10th Anniversary with a click down memory lane. Google is also celebrating an anniversary, and to do that they have put up a lot of pages from their archive to show how things where back in 2001. Take a look at Radio 1190's wayback page here.
CD of the Month
Radio 1190’s CD of the month for November is the newest release from pianist Hauschka entitled Ferndorf. Hauschka is primarily the work of Volker Bertleman who comes from the German village of Dusseldorf. The songs on Ferndorf are meant to invoke specific memories or place from his childhood there. He has been recognized as one of the 21st century’s greatest exponents of the prepared piano technique which was made popular by John Cage and Erik Satie.
Westword honors Radio 1190
"Back in 1998, before it was subsumed by Clear Channel, Jacor wound up
with one more station than it could keep under FCC rules. Instead of
holding a fire sale, execs donated it to the University of Colorado at
Boulder, which up until then had made do with a school radio station that
broadcast to the dorms using carrier current. A decade later, Radio 1190
is a station worthy of celebrating, with a reach that goes far outside of
CU and even Boulder. It's an oasis of exciting music, creative programming
and community support in a desert of corporate mediocrity. Happy tenth,
and may there be many more anniversaries to follow."
-Westword, Best of Denver 2008

A Side/ B Side

A true homage to the romance of receiving a mix tape, A Side/ B Side gives a weekly dose of themed loving for all listeners.
Like a variety show on quaaludes, DJ Carolyn spins obscure and seemingly unconnected song choices into a cohesive theme each week. From drinking to video games to songs your grandma may like, A Side/ B Side keeps you on your toes with constant variety.
Tune in every Friday evening from 6 to 7 for a new theme each week.
